The Canaanite Woman: Poems + Conversation about Disability + Infinity

Saturday, July 31, 2021

1:00-2:30 p.m.

Centering Space, Lakewood, Ohio

It seems Matthew in his gospel was unaware that the woman about whom he wrote only eight lines was a prophet. I pause with this unnamed Canaanite Woman for considerably longer than Matthew does, following her and taking notes as she she raises a child with severe disabilities and crafts a life of beauty and resilience within a culture of systemic ableism. I will read poems from my forthcoming book, a tribute to the visionary leadership and cosmic perspective of women who raise children with severe disorders.
